Overview

DataSource is a web based data visualization tool (utilizing Weave) designed to assist human services and community development organizations, funders, government agencies, researchers and concerned individuals in their efforts to understand community conditions and improve the quality of life in central Ohio.

Drawing upon a wealth of social, physical, economic, demographic and property data, DataSource users have a powerful tool to identify community needs, plan new programs, strategize ways to allocate and manage resources, and target improvements. DataSource can be used to view and compare data for specific geographic areas including counties, cities, and zip codes.

Partners


Community Research Partners (CRP) is a unique non-profit research, evaluation and data center based in Columbus, Ohio. CRP is a partnership between the City of Columbus, the United Way of Central Ohio, The Ohio State University and the Franklin County Commissioners. CRP is a data intermediary and partner in the Urban Institute’s National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership. Mission: To strengthen communities through data, information, and knowledge


The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is a voluntary association of 41 local governments in central Ohio, and is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Columbus urbanized area. MORPC serves the region through innovative programming and intergovernmental coordination in the areas of transportation, land use, energy, the environment, housing, and public policy. Mission: To be the regional voice and a catalyst for sustainability and economic prosperity in order to secure a competitive advantage for central Ohio


Web-based Analysis and Visualization Environment (Weave) is a new visualization platform designed to enable instant visualization of data as maps, charts, or tables. Weave is an open source application supporting the ability to integrate, disseminate and visualize data at various levels of geography.

Weave was developed at the Institute for Visualization and Perception Research of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, in partnership with the Open Indicators Consortium (OIC), a fifteen member collaborative of public and nonprofit organizations from throughout the country working to improve access to data.
